I am sorry. My catch pics are getting worst! It was late time I was done . I ended up with 49 tonight. Most subs are on there second night soak so things will be a bit slower tomorrow.

Sorry no pics of rats today! I only got 22 today I got them all in new runs tonight but all are on the same slough and not to many are in real hot runs but I was pressed for time. Tried all morning to get the boy on a moose but the cow / calf pair we where on wouldn't stand still and when she did the calf stood in front and we didn't want two in one shot so we had to let them go. Then tonight it finally came together and he got a shot at a young cow at about 85 yards. She was quartering towards us a bit and before I could even say to wait a second he had the gun loaded and shot. Lol he hit her behind the shoulder and she turned to go back in the bush I told him to hit her in the neck and he drilled her just behind the ear ! I was pretty proud of him. Shooting my ultra mag for the first time and to do it free hand . He was pretty proud also.

54 today. Rain/ snow and strong winds. Had to pull all sets because am told I will be back to work Tuesday or Wednesday. Try to get as many boarded as I can. .

Made the mistake of tring to make time with my frozen helpers so I just loaded the subs in the back of the truck without unloading the rats. Duh !! Got home and had to haul every one into my tiny skinny room because all the rats where froze to the traps.( of course). Oh well no harm in the end just a little more work.

You are sure hitting those rats hard. Seems all are rats around here are missing for some reason. Congrats on that fine cow moose. Your son must be very proud. Awesome pics for sure.

You are going to have a nice pile of rats by freeze up if you keep at them like that....Good Job.

All done. Got 282. I think. Did up about 100 or so of last fall and spring rats. Hope to get them all done for the first sale to take advantage of the prices. All our pot hole are frozen now. Was looking at my post from last year when I had to use the canoe as a ice breaker to get my traps back. Glad I never had to do that again. Hope to trap a few doomed houses during my holidays during white tail deer season. Nov22-29. Not to bad of a season. Hope we have rats again next year. I look so forward all summer watching them populate all the sloughs then as usuall I only get a short week to trap them. Oh we some day when I retire I will get to hit them longer. Lol. Only 25 more years!

You did very well with those sub traps. Best way to harvest rats in my opinion where you have run ways, creeks and culverts.

Yup. Get spoiled with them . I start turning my nose up at ones caught any other way. Lol. They are so nice to skin when they have no trauma anywhere. Lol. I did start always setting a couple foot holds on each house though just in case I mised the hot run going into the house with my subs then at least I would usually pick up one or two for my troubles of walking out there.

Yes you are for sure a good sub man for rats. Still chasing them? and how many you got now.
